"Access" was my second choice to remix for the PxTone Cave Story album for one reason: the Wii version. I love that bassline that pops up for like 5 seconds just before the whole thing loops and one thing I've always wanted to do was play around with that bassline. If it wasn't clear, I like the Wii versions of the Cave Story tracks a lot, and they offer a lot of interesting material to work off of when it comes to remixing.

I actually started working on this remix before I finished "Whispers of the Waterway" - I found working on the waterway track to be taxing so this was a nice break from the longer remix I first requested.

"Access" is deceptively complex for such a short loop, mainly because of the way it modulates between two different keys within its 8 bar loop. This makes adding more to the texture tricky, and I found the hardest part to be trying to get this whole thing to loop. I tried to go wild a couple of times and then one voice would sound REALLY off. Overall, I still enjoyed remixing this one and getting to extend the Wii version bassline like I've always wanted to do.
